Tifa was born in Nibelheim, a small mountain town. She is the childhood friend of Cloud Strife – the only person who knows his true past. After the tragic Nibelheim incident (where the Shinra Electric Power Company and Sephiroth burned her hometown and killed her father), Tifa fled to Midgar. There she joined AVALANCHE, fighting against Shinra’s exploitation of the planet’s life energy (Mako).

She later opens a bar called “Seventh Heaven” in the Sector 7 slums – a haven for her friends and fellow rebels.

Tifa is known for her complex personality:

• Outwardly she is calm, caring, and responsible – often acting as the emotional anchor of the party.

• Inwardly she can be shy and struggles to express her true feelings, especially toward Cloud.

• She is brave and fiercely protective of those she loves, but also vulnerable due to her past trauma.

Unlike spell‑focused characters, Tifa is a pure martial artist. She uses her fists and kicks in fast‑paced, close‑quarters attacks. Her fighting style emphasises:

• High mobility & combo chains

• Powerful Limit Breaks (e.g., Dolphin Blow, Meteor Strike, Final Heaven)

• In Final Fantasy VII Remake, she has a unique “Chi” mechanic that allows her to chain abilities for massive damage

Relationships

Her name comes from “Tiferet” – a Hebrew term meaning beauty, harmony, and balance (a sphere on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life).

“Lockhart” suggests “locked heart” – reflecting how she hides her true emotions.

Fans often jokingly call her “the Jerusalem of gaming heroines” – an ultimate, untouchable standard of character design.

Her Dolphin Blow limit break is a tribute to Akira Yuki from the Virtua Fighter series.
